About Topboards
Topboards is a public market for attention.
Most advertising happens behind closed doors. Advertisers bid in private, platforms decide who gets seen, and everyone else is left guessing what the traffic is worth. We think it should be visible.
On Topboards, the market is the product.
You can see who is on top. You can see what it costs to move up. You can see how much support each position has received. You can see the traffic. You can see the clicks. No hidden auction. No mysterious ad score.
Rank is earned in public
Topboards are intentionally simple: more backing = higher rank.
If another participant passes you, they move ahead. If you want the position back, you can take it back. The competition is visible to everyone.
That is what makes a Topboard different from a traditional ad placement. The fight for attention becomes part of the attention itself.
Attention should prove its value
A position is only valuable if people are actually looking. That is why Topboards publishes performance publicly. Depending on the board, you may see:
- visitors
- views
- outbound clicks
- total backing
- number of supporters
- rank changes
We would rather show the numbers than tell you something is valuable.
Money is the signal
Free votes are easy. Likes are easy. Following someone is easy.
Putting real money behind a position is different. A Topboard measures something simple: what are people willing to back when the signal has a cost?
That does not make a Topboard an objective ranking of quality, popularity, talent, or importance. It measures paid conviction. That distinction is intentional.
Advertising can be entertaining
Traditional ads interrupt content. A Topboard can become the content. Someone takes #1. Someone gets knocked out of the Top 10. Two communities fight over a position. A newcomer climbs twenty places in an hour.
The market creates a story, and the story creates more attention. That is the flywheel:
attention → competition → backing → rank changes → sharing → more attention
Competition resets. Reputation remains.
Champions, top supporters, top promoters, major milestones, and previous rankings can remain part of the permanent record.
Promotion should be measurable too
Anyone may eventually be able to help grow a board through a tracked Topboards promoter link. If you create real traffic and real participants, that contribution should be measurable. We care much more about what someone actually generates than how many followers they claim to have.
Traffic can be measured. Customers can be attributed. Backing can be attributed. Promotion should be accountable.
Radical transparency
Topboards is built around a simple philosophy: if a number helps determine the value of a board, we should make as much of it public as practical. Traffic is visible. Performance is visible. Competition is visible. The market is visible.
Topboards does not promise that paying for a rank will make you successful. We give you something simpler: a transparent market where you can see what attention exists, what others are willing to pay for it, and what your position actually produces.
What Topboards is not
Topboards is not a traditional popularity poll. It is not an objective ranking. It is not a prediction market. It is not gambling. Users are not wagering money on an uncertain outcome or receiving a cash prize if their selection finishes first. Purchases create a defined ranking or promotional effect on the applicable board.
Topboards is a new way to compete for attention in public. The internet has always ranked things. We just made the market visible.
